TOM ABDOW & ELENYA HAGENAH – Singers and Songwriters announce move to East Tennessee.

Tom Abdow and Elenya Hagenah, singers and songwriters originally hailing from the Northeast U.S. have relocated to East Tennessee. Their interest in pursuing music industry connections and concert, nite club and coffeehouse performances throughout the region and nationally inspired the move.

“It’s been a long time coming to get re-established in Tennessee, but very well worth the effort, time and expense,” Abdow said.

Through a continuing and exciting series of musical endeavors & business developments combined with performances before wonderful audiences, the two hope to realize more success with their music.

“We really love the Southeast and the people are so welcoming,” Elenya Hagenah added, “and we are gearing up for more shows and hope to market our newest music to as many new listeners as possible.

Those who appreciate music with a message and story songs in particular should find something great to listen to in the music presented by Elenya Hagenah and Tom Abdow.

SOME ARTIST HISTORY:

About Tom Abdow –

Tom Abdow began performing in his High School days and did mostly “covers” of artists in the Folk-Rock, Country and traditional music genres, backed-up by friends Glenn Potter (percussion) Jeff Bonzek (lead and acoustic guitars) and others. Their renditions of these songs to their local, friendly audiences, (who literally gave them a standing ovation on pieces like “Alice’s Restaurant” by Arlo Guthrie) also included “flashback” oldies songs like “Blue Moon” from the 1950’s.

Later, after much struggle in “self-taught” acoustic guitar, Tom Abdow set out to learn as many “covers” as he could, ultimately performing 5 to 6 nights a week at clubs, coffee houses, out-door music, arts & crafts festivals and even “House Concerts”.

Tom Abdow gave high quality renditions of songs like “Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald” – “If You Could Read My Mind” and “Early Morning Rain” by Gordon Lightfoot; “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday” by Jimmy Buffett; “Sunday Morning Coming Down” and “The Highwayman” by Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash; “Summer Breeze” by Jim Seals and Dash Crofts; “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers; and sometimes combining harmonica and guitar playing, simultaneously, on songs like “Shanty” by Jonathan Edwards (particularly challenging on harmonica); “City of New Orleans” and literally about 250 more.

Tom Abdow’s own songs, whether as a solo singer-guitarist or co-written with talented lyricists include: “Country Morning D.J.”, “Every Time She Says Your Name”, “In The Evening Rain” and “Back To My Old Friends” (a song that has seen several revisions and additions since originally being penned in the early 70’s), “I Never Did Get Over You” (Words by Donald Henry McAdam), as well as “covers” of songs written by old friends such as “Song for the Losers” by Jim Drumm of Detroit.
