Elenya Hagenah – Singer, Songwriter & Composer

HAGENAH & ABDOW now in Tennessee

TOM ABDOW & ELENYA HAGENAH – Singers and Songwriters announce move to East Tennessee.

Tom Abdow and Elenya Hagenah, singers and songwriters originally hailing from the Northeast U.S. have relocated to East Tennessee. Their interest in pursuing music industry connections and concert, nite club and coffeehouse performances throughout the region and nationally inspired the move.

“It’s been a long time coming to get re-established in Tennessee, but very well worth the effort, time and expense,” Abdow said.

Through a continuing and exciting series of musical endeavors & business developments combined with performances before wonderful audiences, the two hope to realize more success with their music.

“We really love the Southeast and the people are so welcoming,” Elenya Hagenah added, “and we are gearing up for more shows and hope to market our newest music to as many new listeners as possible.

Those who appreciate music with a message and story songs in particular should find something great to listen to in the music presented by Elenya Hagenah and Tom Abdow.

SOME ARTIST HISTORY:

About Tom Abdow –

Tom Abdow began performing in his High School days and did mostly “covers” of artists in the Folk-Rock, Country and traditional music genres, backed-up by friends Glenn Potter (percussion) Jeff Bonzek (lead and acoustic guitars) and others. Their renditions of these songs to their local, friendly audiences, (who literally gave them a standing ovation on pieces like “Alice’s Restaurant” by Arlo Guthrie) also included “flashback” oldies songs like “Blue Moon” from the 1950’s.

Later, after much struggle in “self-taught” acoustic guitar, Tom Abdow set out to learn as many “covers” as he could, ultimately performing 5 to 6 nights a week at clubs, coffee houses, out-door music, arts & crafts festivals and even “House Concerts”.

Tom Abdow gave high quality renditions of songs like “Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald” – “If You Could Read My Mind” and “Early Morning Rain” by Gordon Lightfoot; “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday” by Jimmy Buffett; “Sunday Morning Coming Down” and “The Highwayman” by Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash; “Summer Breeze” by Jim Seals and Dash Crofts; “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers; and sometimes combining harmonica and guitar playing, simultaneously, on songs like “Shanty” by Jonathan Edwards (particularly challenging on harmonica); “City of New Orleans” and literally about 250 more.

Tom Abdow’s own songs, whether as a solo singer-guitarist or co-written with talented lyricists include: “Country Morning D.J.”, “Every Time She Says Your Name”, “In The Evening Rain” and “Back To My Old Friends” (a song that has seen several revisions and additions since originally being penned in the early 70’s), “I Never Did Get Over You” (Words by Donald Henry McAdam), as well as “covers” of songs written by old friends such as “Song for the Losers” by Jim Drumm of Detroit.

About Elenya Hagenah –

Elenya Hagenah’s musical background includes Classical piano training and performances, study and work as a classical Flautist, modern Composing and Orchestration and Jazz & Contemporary trends stylistic approaches to music.

Ms. Hagenah also studied music professionally in both the U.S. and Germany. Many of her original music pieces feature multi-layered orchestrations with classical instruments such as cello, violin, strings, english and french horns and even harp.

Elenya’s songwriting includes contemporary songs with beautiful, almost hauntingly whimsical lyrics and vocals combined with her classically trained piano playing and incredible classical and contemporary orchestrations. “I write contemporary ‘INDIE’ music and Christian music as well,” Elenya said.

Elenya Hagenah takes her songs to what some describe as a ‘uniquely personal and uplifting level’ -one that inspires and entertains and with some songs being both danceable and just plain fun to listen to.

“Elenya Hagenah makes impressive use of her classical musical background in both her own songs as well as her own interpretations of beautiful, classical piano pieces; this while adding some enticing orchestration to her renditions of these wonderful, timeless compositions,” Tom Abdow commented.

Elenya’s more recent songs include titles like: “Sitting on the Bay”, “This is the Rising of the Son”, “Remember September Morning”, “I Will Sail This Ship No More”, “Did You Shoot A Coyote?”, “Send Me (A Lifeline)”, “Soldier’s Song”, “Fare The Well”, “Today I Prayed” and “Where Are The Troubadours?”
